The round box and cover silver(?)-plated and worked in delicate cloisonne using a palette of pinks, blues, and white, the cloisons made with finely twisted wire in the old way. The sides with paired-coins motif (Wealth) and round cloisons imitating carnelian inserts (Protection). The cover features an openwork Shou (Long Life) medallion in hardstone (bowenite) resembling white jade. Rich with auspicious symbolism, this finely crafted box dates from the early- to mid-20th century.
